BA (Hons) Jewellery, Materials and Design graduate won in the 40th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Design Competition

Pui Hong Yiu, a graduate from BA (Hons) Jewellery, Materials and Design, Sheffield Hallam University, got 1st runner up in the student group of 40th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Design Competition organised by HKTDC.

The competition revolves around game code and how it can be seamlessly incorporated into watch designs. Pui drew inspiration from the iconic game 'Pac-man' and crafted a unique watch with a yellow and black square case resembling a small-scale arcade. The dial beautifully captures the essence of the game, featuring a recreation of the 'Pac-man' scenario. Within the double-glazed glass, some of the 'food' items are moving around, creating an amusing visual effect. This watch serves as both a functional timepiece and a playful accessory that embodies the attitude of "work hard, play hard".

Pui is also an awardee of the Government Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship (SPSS) – Talent Development Scholarship in 2022-23. Pui will definitely be able to shine in the design world with his creativity and win more awards in the future.
